Iron Wok Jan! suit le parcours de Jan Akiyama, un jeune chef de génie au tempérament explosif. Travaillant dans un restaurant de très haut niveau, il se distingue par une vision radicale de la cuisine : pour lui, cuisiner est un combat, une démonstration de supériorité et de technique. Face à lui se dresse Kiriko Gobancho, petite-fille du propriétaire du restaurant et cheffe talentueuse, qui défend une philosophie totalement opposée.
